Borat

Well, there were some funny moments. But mostly, this movie was painful for me. It’s like that freaky Roberto Begnini acting out at the Academy Awards. I get embarassed and can barely look.

    I haven’t seen it.

So who is ‘abnormal’? The people who think it’s the cat’s pajamas or you two?

I won’t assign a category to either side, Bertram. And I didn’t hate the movie. I just didn’t like it that much.

I am going to go look for a yeast bread recipe and figure out how to make and store rolls for Thanksgiving. I bought the turkey today, a fresh Red Bird, 13 lbs.

Isn’t “yeast bread recipe” redundant? I know there are breads that don’t include yeast, but do ‘white bread’ Americans know about them?

Oh, hey! Verb and I had lunch at Antonio’s and set a place for you. So you’ve now been there in spirit.

I absolutely loved Borat. Then again, I also thought watching Roberto Begnini jumping around like a fool having fun was refreshing.

It’s not redundant. I eat Naan.

I felt like I had nacho breath the other day. Must have been why. Lol.

What’s a Red Bird? A brand? Never have seen them here

It’s just a brand, Emma. Like Honeysuckle, but I like them better (Red Bird.)

I remember that you liked Begnini, Blu. I had to look away from the television screen.

Ha, Tree. I have to side with a fellow Italian. I loved that movie, because he reminded me of my grandfather a bit. (Begnini in Life is Beautiful - not Borat). Now that I’m taking Italian lessons, I want to see another one of his movies - without the subtitles.

My daughter and I saw Borat last weekend and we were both fairly disappointed. A few good laughs,, a few nervous twitters,, and mainly dead silence. I was glad my watch is a Timex with Indiglo so I could keep track of how much time had lapsed and how much more I was going to have to sit thru. It is right on par with Jackass, frankly. Then again, I didn’t much care for Little Miss Sunshine, either. I couldn’t suspend disbelief for that long.

Sheilakins, you adorable gingham Glory, when do you enjoy suspending disbelief?

I was charmed by Little Miss Sunshine. One of the few times I left a theater feeling so cheerful.

I want to see Marie Antoinette, The Queen, Little Children (they screwed this movie on distribution, so I’ll have to wait for the DVD); another Kate Winslet movie called Holiday, with Jack Black. I’m sure there are more, but the previews at Borat left me listless and bored.

I am going to rent Word Play and maybe start watching Weeds. Also, a discussion in another thread made me want to see all the Homicide: Life on the Street shows again. Maybe The Wire, too. I don’t know.
